Knjiga naše akademske slikarice i spisateljice Marike Šafran Berberović Od Austera do Boreja (365 rečenica) u kojoj iz dana u dan tijekom godine dana promišlja svakodnevni život i univerzalne vrijednosti, jedinstvena je iz više razloga.
Knjiga je uz hrvatski izvornik cijela prevedena na engleski, a potom je svaka rečenica prevedena na još jedan od osam jezika (francuski,(1) nizozemski,(2) portugalski,(3) mađarski,(4) njemački,(5) ruski,(6) talijanski,(7) španjolski(8)) koji se navedenim redoslijedom izmjenjuju. K tome su kao treći prijevod, po izboru prevoditelja, prevedene neke rečenice na bilo koji od navedenih jezika uključivši i latinski jezik.
Otuda i naslov Od Austera do Boreja (Od južnog do sjevernog vjetra), dakle, od Portugala, Španjolske, Francuske, Italije i Hrvatske pa sve do V. Britanije, Nizozemske, Njemačke, Mađarske i Rusije. Osim humane note što su potvrdili mnogi čitatelji koji su imali priliku čitati misli iz knjige 365 rečenica, prevođenjem na deset jezika ona je dobila i sveeuropsko i općeljudsko značenje.
Nakon što je knjiga 365 rečenica, objavljena 2011. godine, pobudila začuđujuće velik interes mnogih čitatelja, zamisao da se knjiga prevede na takav jedinstveni način nastala je u međusobnom promišljanju autorice i jedne od urednica knjige te je grupa prevoditelja entuzijasta velikodušno pristala i prevela te misli na više stranih jezika.
Vrijednosti kojima svi težimo, duboko proživljene misli, iznimna senzibilnost, ljudska toplina, velikodušnost, osjećaj za prave vrijednosti, suosjećanje sa slabijima, sve to bilo im je motiv da prihvate taj izazov. Tako su misli Marike Šafran Berberović s hrvatskog jezika prevedene na deset jezika, postale dostupne i drugim narodima, našim susjedima ali i šire te pridonose osjećaju radosti življenja i pobjedi dobrote u ovom svijetu.
Autorica s velikim poštovanjem zahvaljuje svima koji su na bilo koji način pridonijeli nastanku ove knjige. Posebno se zahvaljuje prevoditeljima (abecednim redom): Ivanu Bekavcu Basiću, latinski jezik, Nini Blum, nizozemski jezik, Davorki Franić, francuski i talijanski jezik, Meri Grubić Videc, portugalski jezik, Heleni Jeny, engleski jezik, Maji Oršić Magdić, njemački jezik, Endri Olsvayju, mađarski jezik, Csabi Olsvayju, mađarski jezik, Jadranki Tukši, ruski jezik i Jagodi Večerini, španjolski jezik.
Osobito zahvaljuje svima koji su recenzijom prijevoda pridonijeli kvaliteti knjige, kao i prof. dr. Miji Bergovcu čiji tekst o knjizi 365 rečenica potvrđuje izuzetnu vrijednost i poticajnost zapisanih misli za život teško bolesnih ljudi.
Poštujući volonterski i s radošću uložen trud ljudi u ovaj projekt autorica je primila ovaj dar s ljubavlju. Prihvatimo stoga i mi taj prekrasan buket europskih jezika te listajući Od Austera do Boreja (365 rečenica) sanjajmo humanost, zajedništvo i ljubav.

EDITORS’ INTRODUCTION

Academic painter and writer Marika Šafran Berberović’s book “From Auster to Boreas” (“365 Sentences”), in which over the course of a year she reflects on life and universal values, is a book that is unique for several reasons.
“365 Sentences”, along with the Croatian original, is entirely translated into English, and afterwards, every sentence has then been translated into one of 8 languages (French,(1) Dutch,(2) Portuguese,(3) Hungarian,(4) German,(5) Russian,(5) Italian,(6) Spanish(7)) that are regularly interchanged. Additionally, by the translators’ choice, a third translation has been made – some sentences are translated into any of the listed languages, including Latin.
Hence the name “From Auster to Boreas” (“From the South Wind to the North Wind”) – therefore from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, and Croatia all the way to the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, and Russia. Besides the human touch, which was noticed by many readers who had an opportunity to read the thoughts from “365 Sentences”, by being translated into 10 languages, the book has also gained a multicultural and pan-European significance.
After the book “365 Sentences”, published in 2011, had awakened an amazingly large interest of many readers, the idea of the book being translated in this special way came up as a result of mutual, careful deliberation of the author and one of the editors of the book, and a group of translators enthusiasts accepted generously to translate these thoughts into several foreign languages.
Values that we aspire to, deeply felt thoughts, extreme sensitivity, human warmth, generosity, a sense of true values, compassion for the weak – all of these were the translators’ motive to accept this challenge. Thus, Marika Šafran Berberović’s thoughts, that were translated from Croatian into 10 different languages, became available to other nations as well—to neighbouring countries and beyond, contributing to the feeling of joy in life and the triumph of goodness in this world.
The author would like to thank with deep appreciation all those who contributed in any way to this book.
